Urban Exploration

"Urban Exploration" is a photographic investigation into the character and soul of modern cities. Moving beyond typical postcard views, this series delves into the layers of urban environments—from towering skyscrapers to quiet alleyways, from bustling streets to forgotten corners.

Cities are constantly evolving organisms with their own rhythms, textures, and moods. This project aims to capture these elements through a combination of architectural photography, street scenes, and urban abstracts. By exploring different times of day and weather conditions, I've sought to reveal the many faces of urban landscapes.

The images in this collection span several major cities, each with its own distinct character and visual language. From the geometric precision of modern architecture to the organic chaos of street life, these photographs celebrate the complexity and beauty of urban environments.

Urban photography presents unique challenges and opportunities. For this project, I primarily used a Sony Alpha a7R IV with a variety of lenses, including a 24-70mm f/2.8 for versatility and a 16-35mm f/2.8 for wide architectural shots.

Many of these images were captured during the "blue hour" just after sunset or before sunrise when artificial lights blend with natural light to create a dramatic atmosphere. For night shots, I used tripods and long exposures to capture light trails and the glow of city lights.

In post-processing, I focused on enhancing the natural contrast and colors of urban environments while maintaining a consistent visual style across the series. Some images employ a more dramatic approach to highlight the graphic qualities of urban architecture, while others take a more documentary approach to street scenes.
