Ocean Views

"Ocean Views" is a dedicated exploration of the horizon line where ocean meets sky. This collection focuses on the expansive, panoramic perspectives of coastal landscapes, capturing the sense of infinity and possibility that ocean views inspire in viewers.

Unlike other seascape collections that might focus on wave action or coastal details, this series emphasizes the broader vista—the way light plays across vast expanses of water, how weather systems transform the appearance of the horizon, and the meditative quality of gazing out at seemingly endless ocean.

These photographs were taken from various elevated vantage points along coastlines across different continents, each offering a unique perspective on how the ocean appears when viewed from a distance. The series includes dawn and dusk transitions, weather phenomena, and the subtle variations in color and texture that make each ocean view uniquely captivating.

Capturing compelling ocean views requires patience and planning. For this series, I primarily worked with wide-angle lenses (16-35mm) to embrace the expansive nature of these scenes, occasionally employing panoramic stitching techniques for ultra-wide perspectives that better convey the immersive feeling of standing at these locations.

Many of these images were shot during the "blue hour" before sunrise or after sunset, when the light is soft and atmospheric. A sturdy tripod was essential for these low-light conditions, allowing for longer exposures that smooth the water surface and capture the subtle gradients of color in the sky.

Post-processing for this series focused on preserving the natural color relationships while enhancing the atmospheric qualities that make these views so compelling. I've employed subtle graduated filters to balance exposure between sky and water, and careful color grading to maintain the emotional impact of each scene as experienced in person.
